Art and design collaboration brings One Sydney Park display suite to life

31-Jan-2018

Leading local developer, HPG Australia, has gone the extra mile in linking its flagship One Sydney Park development in Alexandria to the surrounding environment, with the commissioning of a stunning art installation by St Peters-based artist Garth Knight for the project’s display suite.

Taking the shape of a huge tree, Knight’s work has been crafted entirely of rope, and aims to capture the imagination of potential purchasers and visitors to the display suite by giving them a true sense of the deep connection between the new masterplanned community and its natural environment.

“The brief was to install one of my tree sculptures to fill the space and give the feeling that people were sitting under the outstretched branches of a tree as you would in a park”, says Knight.

“It’s about connection. Connection with each other and about trust and communication. The rocks symbolise the strength and the power of the earth that we stand on. There’s a magical presence in them as they suspend in the air. The knots in the ceiling feel like stars in the sky.”

Located at 205-215 Euston Road in Alexandria, One Sydney Park adjoins the 44-hectare Sydney Park and will become a natural extension of the masterplanned residential community, dramatically revitalising the south-eastern corner of the highly popular inner-city park for the local community.

The expansive approximate 500sqm One Sydney Park display suite highlights the architectural intent and design integrity of the overall project, exemplifying the premium nature of the stunning new residences for sale.

Chris Bosse and his team from LAVA provided the initial architectural concept for the HPG One Sydney Park display suite to exemplify the premium intent of this project’s positioning. LAVA is the 2016 Laureate of the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

Tracey Wiles and her team from international practice, Make Architects have subsequently completed all elements of the interior design and artistic curation, building on the initial “pod” concept and realising an outcome that presents as an artistic installation and an absolute realisation of HPG Australia’s vision for the overall development.

The Make team has gone on to provide the interior design for the project’s Park Terraces, Tree Top Terraces and all types of Nest Apartments. Headquartered in London, Make recently established a Sydney studio and Tracey’s team designed the interiors for Sydney’s sales record-breaking Opera Residences’ penthouses at Circular Quay.

According to Tracey Wiles, from international architecture practice, Make, who designed the interiors of One Sydney Park, visitors to the display suite will have a unique experience.

“When designing the interiors, the primary driver was that the design had to complement the beauty of the surroundings, thus informing the design detail and specification of materials. The homes will feel more like a luxurious hotel than an apartment scheme with beautiful joinery, high end appliances and the use of timbers, marble and stone to express the natural materiality of the park.

“Likewise the display suite is relaxing, playful, evocative. We have deliberately taken visitors on a journey, from the arrival and then through the display suite itself, everything has been carefully curated to give a sense of discovery and help buyers get a true impression of what it will be like to live here. It has been a fantastic project.”

Managing Director of HPG Australia Dr Adrian Liu said: “The collective input of the designers has achieved our goal of creating an environment where the buyer will feel they have a strong sense of the project and importantly, how deeply ingrained a relationship One Sydney Park will have with the park.

“The standard of design on the entire project really set the benchmark for the display suite and the market now has a certain level of expectation. We were mindful that that buyers of One Sydney Park homes will be incredibly discerning, design-conscious, and nature-loving individuals.

“When completed, it will be considered one of the most premium and carefully considered display suites and residential projects on the market, with every aspect intrinsically linked to the park.

“One Sydney Park will bring a new level of luxury to Alexandria and the inner west.”

Featuring a series of pods, the One Sydney Park display suite will invite the buyer on an experiential journey, including a sensory room, examples of living spaces, and kitchens (both typical offering and uplift options), as well as a new approach to bathroom interior design.

Due for completion in early 2021, One Sydney Park comprises approximately 400 apartments including a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments; two-storey Park Terraces and penthouse and Tree Top Terraces with private courtyards harnessing enormous views. Prices start at $765,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.

One Sydney Park’s display suite opens to the public in late January. For further information visit onesydneypark.com.au or call McGrath Projects on 1800 331 661.
