Matthew Perry’s Modern Home Overlooking Downtown LA For Sale

Mei Anne Foo, Billionaire

Matthew Perry may have retired from successful sitcom Friends but his play, The End of Longing, is now enjoying a run off-Broadway. He’s reportedly been living in New York and therefore is offloading his modern home with ocean views on LA’s Sunset Strip for US$13.5 million.

The promising playwright purchased the home in the Bird Streets neighbourhood in August 2011. According to records, he paid US$8.5 million.

The current listing by Greg Holcomb and Cassandra Petersen, both with Partners Trust, describes the more than 10,000-square-foot property as a modern homage to the Case Study Houses, which redefined mid-century architecture. Constructed in 1962, it retains original walls of glass and an indoor-outdoor living design.

The main home has three bedrooms and a room suited for a gym or office with its own bathroom. The master suite has an extensive closet, custom built-ins and opens directly to the huge infinity pool. Dazzling views stretch from Downtown LA to Century City and onward to the Pacific. The outdoor entertainment area is also dotted with dramatic fire pits.

But perhaps the house’s most distinctive feature is the subterranean screening room tucked below the master suite with huge and thick windows, looking directly into the depths of the swimming pool.
